hvør á kroppin á øðrum
a trio

Hvør á kroppin á øðrum is a trio initially developed during RIVA's second residency, held in Styggbo, Sweden 8th-19th of June 2022. Inspiration was drawn from both the Faroese myth behind "The Giant and the Hag" as well as the swedish folklore "Hårgadansen". The main focus was to create movement through specific tasks and intentions, to stay attentive and listen to each other, in order for each movement to have a specific purpose and to lead the three dancers continuously throughout the piece without loosing connection - emotionally and physically.

a trio and quadruple bill performance of the same name by RIVA
HVØR Á KROPPIN Á ØÐRUM were two events celebrating the artform of dance through performances at Tjóðpallur Føroya in Tórshavn and at SALT in Tvøroyri. Participating professional dancers represented Grov Productions (NO), RIVA Faroese Dance Company (FO) and DansiEksperimentið (FO). Event organised by RIVA.

22nd and 23rd of July 2022 at 7:30pm at Tjóðpallur Føroya
PROGRAMME
Grov Production will perform Her Past in Their Present Now, which is a personal story, based on the choreographer's experiences of having diabetes and being a dancer in an industry where the body is in the focus. Grov has often been frustrated with the body, the disease and the feeling it creates in the body when being scared of conflicts. These strains and feelings are being expressed by five female dancers, both individually and collectively as a group. Through strong movements and personal stories, the five women reveal their panic, stress, anxiety, tension and insecurity. Their breath gives an important quality to their movements.

Búi Rouch is performing a new solo, which is based upon his original work from RIVA's debut residency, The Giant and the Hag, from August 2021. The piece is thus a further development of the material originally created for a group piece. Búi has worked on combining the two sagas of "The Giant and the Hag" and "Hårgadansen" in his new solo during RIVA's second residency in Styggbo, Sweden, which was held on June 8th-19th 2022.
