Rýtmugrafi

A stage work by RIVA in collaboration with the Faroese Percussion Ensemble

29th & 30th of November 2025 at the Nordic House in the Faroe Islands

Rhythm. It embodies our sensation of time, the flux of phenomena and what we feel in our own body, yet may have a hard time expressing. It touches our collective remembrance and connects us to other rhythms in life: a beating heart, and days, seasons and years passing by. We experience rhythm as being poetic and touching, having the ability to catalyse strong emotions and create transcending atmospheres where we briefly lose ourselves - if we dare to give in.

Rýtmugrafi is an artistic collaboration between RIVA the Faroese Dance Company and the Faroese Percussion Ensemble. The two explore the interplay between movement and rhythm as equal artistic mediums on stage.

The nature of live performance is fleeting, yet it leaves lasting imprints, both sensoric and emotional. We wish to find a common and immersive pulse between performers and the audience. A pulse with a level of intimacy and depth that only live performances can convey.
